Professional Bio

Lucy is Director of Capture Management at PingWind. She has over 10 years of experience successfully leading government contracting sales efforts. She is skilled in developing and executing capture strategies to secure professional services and information technology contracts. Lucy has supported small, medium and large businesses and specializes in the health and civilian agency markets. She has a BA in International Affairs from James Madison University and a MPP from American University.

Why did you choose JMU?

JMU felt like home from the first time I stepped on campus. I was enthralled by the energy — everybody I met was warm, welcoming, and excited to share their favorite parts of JMU with visitors. I appreciated the JMU culture; it exuded balance across all aspects of life. Students were equally passionate about academic excellence and serving the community, but also knew how to have a great time and enjoy the college experience.

How did your degree from JMU lead you to where you are today?

After graduating JMU, I entered the Masters of Public Policy program at American University. I completed the program while also working at a lobbying firm in DC. After that, I planned to work for an international nonprofit or government agency but a friend recommended I take a look at government contracting. I’m glad she did! I took a job at INPUT as a Research Analyst and have worked in research, BD, and capture roles ever since.

What does working for the Federal Government community mean to you?

I feel incredibly fortunate to serve our Government and citizens through the Federal contracting industry. As a Business Development lead, I see my role as an opportunity to bring excellent services and solutions to Government customers that truly appreciate the innovation and problem solving that contractors bring to the table. My day-to-day work feels meaningful, appreciated, and impactful.
